This is a doll I made at the work shop that I am still working on. It was a thrill to meet and work with E.J. Taylor. Its always exciting to learn new things and improve your skills. I really like the one on one help and the things I learned were limitless. I am dieing to put them to work and improve my dolls.Cindee Moyer hosted the work shop and she is a gem! Without Cindee I wonder if I would of meet these caliber of Artist! E. J. is so helpful and a true expert in this field. Its also so fun to meet new people and see what they do and learn from them as well. I made many new friends and reconnected with some old ones.

We worked on the hand, and this is something very hard to master. I thought my hands turned out pretty good once they were finished. I am sure I need hundreds of hours of practice.

Well peeps looks though summer is slowly a drift. No more reasons why one is not busy in the studio creating. This guy is new and is now into the painting phase. Doing something different this time. You must watch for up dates.

I have been busy this summer with outside projects that I hope will get finished before the snow shows up this year. I am kinda hoping that it forgets to come at all. I would be so thrilled if the next three months it was 70 degrees each and every day.

So no more playing around everyone! Time to get your fingers busy making something creative. Be brave this season and do something you never done before, so you can prove it to yourself! BLESSINGS!!!

After Barbra Delaney(of CLOTH,PAPER,SCISSORS) packed up my pieces and returned them to me. She also tucked in a little note. She mentioned to me that I was in for a big surprise when the issue comes out! I kinda wondered what that meant. I received a email today from a fellow Doll Artist, Christine Alvarado.She sent me this photo. She was congratulating me and I was so tickled!!! THANKS CHRISTINE!!! I am soaring today and probably for a while if you see me drift by...LOL I know this is sept./oct. issue and I'm not sure if its on the store shelves yet.But when out and about pick it up and support this fantastic magazine and the wonderful peeps that run it! I think its a fun magazine, regardless even if I happen to be in it, HONEST ENGINE!! cheers!

Anyways she said she wanted to send me something and asked for my address! I sent it to her and asked for her paypal to pay for shipping or something! She refused and just in a couple of days I received a Ginormous package! The package contained oodles of goodies!All sorts of trimmings she no longer used or had left over and or extra. So excited to be in three Magazines coming up! I Believe this front issue of Doll Collector is on shelves now . The other two Art Doll Quarterly and Cloth Paper Scissors will be the fall issue. I think they are on the shelves in August. Needless to say I am so very blessed to be in any Magazine let alone three at the same time. If you get them as a regular costumer that is wonderful ! If not pick them up at book stores or online. If you can't afford them try to sneek a peek at the Library!

Either way they are all three wonderful Magazines and have lots of talented artist in them and lots of great ideas. The Doll Collector, will look just like this but the other two I am not sure how the cover looks these are just older issues.

Well hello all, I am still here. Just taken up with so many things to do now that we can spend time in the outdoors. I Find myself working in the garden and painting my house on the exterior.
Lots of events to attend in the summer and finding that all my weekends are booked up. I am now working on this dolly and hope to get her finished soon. I seem to want to drag all my supplies outside and work, yet I have way too many friends outside living here in the woods. BUGS! Not a big fan of bug spray so it makes it tough to sit still outside and work. I hope you all are having a wonderful spring and summer is just a day or two away ! ENJOY!!!

today I wanted to take you for a walk in my yard.......

Spring has finely come to my part of the world. There is nothing like the fresh spring green of nature. Its the most brightest green of the year.

I love to walk as quiet as I can through the timber, hoping to see some form of wild life in its own place.

This piece of wild life I am afraid fallowed me from the house....LOL meet Oliver!

I am thinking this is some farming stuff left behind from years ago.These woods I think may have been filled with cattle at one time.

Every day there is something new to find in the woods..... I love to hear the sound of the forest and her song.

The trail that we walk in trimmed in wildflowers, what a beautiful treat!

Take sometime to get out and see the wonderful gifts all around you, don't miss spring!

How messy am I ...lol when I am in the thick of it look out! My gears get to turning and I am not on this planet. I wonder how many of you make huge messes when you are going to town with an idea. I had a great deal of fun with this gal! Titled I think I am forgetting something. She is so deep into being all dolled up down to the last detailed. OOPS! she forgot her top! Oh well life goes on. She carries a Chandelier, every girl should have at least one! I love them and I have lost count. I look to buy like doll house Chandeliers but they were too small and so expensive. The nice ones were 200.00 dollars and they were still ugly. So I thought how hard can this be. I used wire and lights for a doll house. Some pretties and after a little electric work .......yes I did it. Presto a perfect sized Chandelier that really lights up. I made one other doll that has one she was called a light in a dark place. I looked at my doll one day and pop the idea dropped into my head from some other demotion. This gal needs a Chandelier. I don't know whats wrong with me but that's what happens!

I have been collaborating with my dear sister to complete a couple dolls lately . Its seems to be going well. My sister is really great at designing. She made this dress and she also made the dress from my last Hoop skirt doll as well. She will be putting up her own blog and showing her world in the dress making in the future. We are 100 miles apart so it can be interesting working together to complete the idea or the look. Its funny how you think one thing and they may be thinking something way different ...lol but all comes together in the end!

The kiln finely arrived and wow I was looking for the man that should of come with it to unload and unpack it. The create was so sturdy that it could make someone a nice coffee table. Put a nice piece of glass on top and there you are! Have to put the stand together and unpack the furniture and the supplies. Then I get to try to figure out how to work it! Then I get to pretend I know what in the _ _ _ _ I am doing? LOL sorry I haven't had coffee for two days now ...getting a bit insane! On a different note I saw a robin today , very happy to see them return and to have a glimmer if hope of the idea of spring beginning to breathe. Tornados last night moved across the state. Not sure if there was any damage. We lost power for the whole evening and I wondered where I put that grill lighter and or the matches. Sitting there in the dark just makes you sleepy. I thought about the pioneers and how they lived. I thought about all the things we have seen in this generation. I think it would be better if we had to live like them to really be thankful of everything we have. The lost art of so many things people use to do. Like hand writing???? We should all write a letter and see if we can still write clearly. Food was so much better when it was real. Family time was so much more face to face and all these electronics weren't stealing our children from us. Home sick for the past...................

Hey I am home......I got back on Sunday and I have unpacked and regrouped. Its so hard coming home from vacations. Everything looked prettier there, and now I have to face REAL life. Everyone needs time away and a real break from life and all it throws at you. But even when you go away your life goes with you.

So now I am home and back in the studio fired up to really get busy. I have three doll in the making and none close to done. Kiln has not shown up yet!!! I think it may have arrived today but of coarse to to my home. I have come home with new ideas and inspiration. I also will post a few things from my trips. Anyhow Hello out there to all of you and I pray you are all well and doing wonderful works of art yourselves!

Well I have ordered my Kiln...YEAH
I though I ordered it last Thursday and I am still waiting for the company to contact me to say hey how do you want to pay for this? I got one email 1 1/2 days after I clicked the BUY button. She said ummmmmm which kiln did you want ? The website didn't tell me which one you wanted. I still have not herd a word from them????? I guess they didn't want to sell me anything to bad??? Needless to say the deed in DONE! I moved on to another seller. I have no idea how long it will take to reach me , but I will try to be patient ...LOL that's not me at all ...LOL

Love to play with Photographs ! The possibilities never end.
I am still learning though and my teacher is me so its a very slow
process. I hate instructions , who ever writes them I don't think
ever reads them...LOL I learn best by just trying it myself. Just trying it
I am determined to figure it out. The technology today is so unreal.
I hope to be able to keep up with all that is to learn in this area, but I am sure
I will fall short.

Wow, I hope everyone out there is getting
a lot done this week, sometimes we have to
shift gears and regroup. I have been rearranging
the studio to make a spot for my new kiln. I am not
placing my order till I have it all ready. Don't want to get
ahead of myself. I ordered a book and still nothing has
arrived.?? I might just have to wing it on my own, in making
molds. I bought some Plexiglas to form my mold box from.
Didn't really want to cut it till I know what I am doing..lol
Just a few body parts to finishes and I am gonna give it a try.
Finished my article for ADQ and I need to get it sent. Just
want to go over it one more time. Let me know what you have
been doing!

these two are six weeks and soon will have new homes. these two
have another brother this size. I have six more that are four weeks.

MY CHINA PAINTS

I am trying to be patient,
I would love to dive right
in and experience China Painting..again, its been forever since I have done it. Love the idea of it all. I have so many steps left to do and yes in order. But in my creative weakness I want to skip to the fun parts, but I can't no CHEATING !I think I have picked out the perfect kiln, with of course a hefty price .
So I had better love my new endeavor! I don't know if I am trying to convince myself or you....lol Well if we never push ourselves one may become very dual. I have taken many new directions this year, some are still a secret.OOOOOOOO I Love a mystery , don't you?

"WHO WHO" an owl thats who!

Couldn't get my camera fast enough today! I do not have
a zoom lens so I was surprised this came out as good as it did.
I have bird feeders outside my kitchen window in the rear of the house.
This big guy I think came to eat my little birds hanging out
at the feeder. I hear the owls a lot in the warm months when the windows
are open. They talk back and forth to each other. they seem to go crazy talking
just before thunderstorms. My son can do the Owl calls himself perfect.
When we were walking in the woods he said watch this mom. He
made the owl calls and the wild turkeys started making noise back. He
told me that owls and turkeys hate each other and maybe those be fightin
words. LOL It sure got them making noise anyways.

Not sculpting today, I have a magazine article dead line approaching and I
hate waiting till the last minute on anything. I must finishes it and get it sent off.
So giving doll a rest today. Gathering information about buying a kiln as well. So many to pick from. I found an email address to a guy who is high up in one of the best companies. I just decided to email him and see what he would have to say. He gave me the best information.Heck I didn't even think he would email me back! What a great blessing. Now I just haveto decide.......hummmmmmm so much to think about.

First I need coffee, then clay and tools!

forming some what of the body parts.....??? I think

I am not sure if this is working or all wrong. I am not going to pretend that I know what I am doing. I have no idea if these piece will work. I know what I want, I can see it in my mind. Not quite sure of the mechanics of the body. I must make the body tiny, I want these dolls to be well dressed. I need to keep the body tiny for the look I am after. Not sure how well the body will hold up the weight of the head. I will not know this till the body has been cast and made into porcelain. I am not after the glamor of most ball jointed dolls. I want mine to remain a doll. I love the beautiful bjd that are very detailed in curves of the body. Yet I want more of a doll of innocents. This one may end up in the trash but I am going to keep going till I succeed!

Oh how nice a sign, a rainbow, well not really but kind of a rainbow. Lots of people do not know
where the rainbow came from. It was from the story of Noah. God gave the rainbow to Noah to mark his solemn promise that he would never destroy the earth with a flood of water again.

I bought myself a wonderful gift, yes The Tireless Artist made
this wonderful doll and I am so blessed to have her come live
here in the country with me. I bought her December 15th and she
just arrived. Lithuanian is a long ways away. She is priceless and
and I am wroth it ! LOL I love to take photos of her too. The Tireless
Artist is in my Doll club ADO - Art Dolls Only . We are a Etsy group of
doll artist. Our badge is here on my blog.....eat your heart out!

baby's home!

I have no idea how she survived so long or who was feeding her. She looks good and pretty healthy for the most part. Just some fur balls, nothing big. No wounds marks or anything like that. Purrrrrrrrrrrring up a storm. First day home went pretty well. I did let her outside for a spell since she is so use to it. I don't want her to run away again but she wanted to got out. Since I no longer had any cats I have six birds and five dogs. Good Griff what to do with a cat now. These ingredients don't mix! The dogs want to kill her, and she wants to kill the birds.

On the doll front , my plaster arrived today. Wow that was fast, the shipping was 6.95 but the handling was 28.00 ? Okay , what ever???? Just glad it came. Fedex driver could not make it up my drive. He tried like three times. Then my husband went down and they unloaded the boxes down at the bottom of the hill. He then drove his truck down loaded it up and now its in my kitchen.....Hummmmmmmm where to put 100 pounds of plaster? Thank you for all the information that everyone is sharing with me. But I have not found much on MOLD MAKING? I have made a silicone mold. But I guess its top secret information to make a plaster mold.Well time will tell I guess.

I have worked with porcelain before but its been along time. I have looked over the molds I have from these tiny little dolls. I still do not have any idea how to make one. LOL I crack myself up. I have ordered a great book that I pray will help me turn the corner. I ordered my plaster to make the molds , I am getting really excited to jump right into this wonderful adventure. Maybe it will be a complete flop! But worse if I never tired.

I had a miracle happen today. My cat ran away almost two years ago .
I found her today!!!!! yeah!!

My husband said he saw her yesterday, about a mile away from our home. I jumped in the truck and we went down the road. He said there she is. I looked over only to see a short haired black cat with a skinny tail. "That's not her! " I said.

Today I was walking down the stairs and I moved my arms and all of a sudden I could hardly breath. So I headed to town to get a good crack to my back. As we drove down the road I yelled " STOP THE CAR" Back up back up! I saw her in the ditch, she ran I called her and called her . She was now 20 feet from me. The skinny tailed cat was near her. I called and called, she was scared . Finely the other cat started to come and she decided it was okay and got closer. I still could not reach her over the fence. Then I called the names of the other cats we had that she knew. She then came to me. I gabbed her...............she was scared and unsure who I was. The car noise frightened her. I put her inside the car and she then acted normal and wow you never saw such a happy long haired black cat in all your life. I will post her photos tomorrow. She is the happiest cat in the world tonight. I hate to think for almost two years no one petted her. sad.......... I keep going in the room where she is resting and looking at her to make sure she is really here.!!! Praise
the Lord!

Why we love Asian food so much???? I have no idea but, I love it. I have always been a lover of trying new things. Out with family enjoying Vietnamese noodle soup over the holidays. With the NEW YEAR at hand its a great time to try new things and set new goals. As often spoke of "NEW YEAR RESOLUTIONS". My dear friend told me , we often make ours for something we need to do to benefit ones self and thinking so selfishly. I have pondered the thought and totally agree that we should set goals for ourselves to benefit others. I try to keep blessing others and make it my goal to do so often. I will make it a point to push this to the top of my daily list. This year I have decided to make monthly realistic goals and not one big super duper plan that everyone seems to let fall to the waste side and then look at them self as a failure.

This year I am going to take you on a journey of casting some of my dolls. I have no idea how to do it. So its going to be interesting. I have been talking to friends on Etsy and Flickr whom have done such things and are helping on my new endeavor. As I learn and try things I will post them so you too can see my new CRAZY idea. I send you many blessing in your New Year as well!

I really liked sculpting this piece. I think a swan is one of the most beautiful creatures on the earth. Her silver parts are silver leaf. I have not seen the movie yet, it looks very mysterious. This piece is made mostly of paper clay. I am guessing its about 16 inches tall and the head on her is baseball size. Magical things happen when one gets snowed in! LOL

This piece is almost finished. Titled: A Light In A Dark Place. She carries a lit chandelier that is fully factional!I have not measured her yet but I am guessing close to or right at three feet tall. She would make a excellent piece in a foyer lighting the way. I will take more photos of her in the dark to show off her lit chandelier.

First Snow

Well, winter has officially come to my corner of the world. Its snowing......of corse they said a half inch and we are at two so far. More than likely we will get six. I have a joke about where I live. I refer to the acres I live on as my snow globe. We always have snow. Even when its not snowing any where else, its snowing here. When it melts every where else, its still white here. One spring day it hailed for a half hour. I phone people I knew in three directions within a 6 mile radius . No one was getting any hail , just us.

Just finished the photos of my Hoop Skirt Victorian Art doll. I had a wild idea to make this doll and glad that I did. I completed the soldering myself and only burned my finger once...OUCH! She is 24 inches tall. She is hand sculpted from clay and her skirt is soldered wire with a metal screen slip. Also under that is a layer of bridal netting and than another slip of linen. Her embellishments are pearls, wire, and fake flowers. I loved adding her hair. I was thrilled when the shipment of two pounds of fresh clipped lambs wool arrived. The tiny little tufts with their adorable kinks are priceless. Well just to let you know she will go up for sale on Etsy tomorrow about 7:30 a.m. central here in the states.

Flying can bring us to the most amazing places. Though I was shooting through the window, I think this photo can make the sky look like a real place. I just wanted to step out and stand on the softness of the surface of what appears to be a stretch of land. But what is just above the clouds. I wanted to stand there and just listen and wait to hear something. I wanted to run barefoot across the white ripples. It really felt like I was somewhere amazing ! well I was.................

Now as I was driving through a town I saw this wonderful flock of pink flamingos. We had to do a u-turn to capture this photo. You may have guessed that we all were laughing and were very pleased to see such great yard art. IF ONLY we all could not be so serious about our decorating. I love decorating with humor . I am still hopeful to find someone to make me a Hobbit door for my entryway of my home. I surely am not one to worry about what others think.........I know God has wonderful Humor!

Well just returned from my vacation with the family. We escaped for seven days to Lake Okoboji Iowa. Just a two hour drive , it was perfect. While there I had the chance to me Spirit Mama from ADO. What a delightful Artist! I had the chance to visit her new home since moving back to Iowa from Taxes. Her and her family have settled very nicely in Iowa. Her home sits on a most inspiring site. Its snuggled near the lakes and has views out back of the natural wet lands. She has a bright cheery presents about her and her hospitality was very pleasant. My visit of coarse was too short since my family was calling for my attention. I plan to return to the area an hook up again soon with her. Just a most wonderful visit!
ON my trip I took many photos of mushrooms I had never seen before.
This is my most favorite cottage on the lake. Its tiny but big flavor! Its just scrupulous.
Every day on the natural spring was so much fun. I love to watch the sail boats!
Saturday night at 10:15 tornado sirens went off. We had 15 minutes to get to the cabin find the kids and get to shelter. The storm past with the threat of tornado ending. The thunder and lighting kept up for a good hour or so. The cabin was drenched and we had no power. What a mess we woke up to.

Trees down every where and twigs and branches thrown about. Boats where they should not be and some on top one another.

I think now might be a good time to start planting new trees. The strom pasted across the state and caused all kinds of troubles. Very strange night . Worst storm I had been around ever.

We packed up and headed home.....................till next year ,"bye Okoboji"

ALICE IN WONDERLAND

Oh Yeah MOUSE charm showed up after all!
This is my Alice,she is not every one's idea of Alice In wonderland. I had never read the story or seen any of the movies of Alice In Wonderland in my life. So when March 5th came along I had promised my daughter we would go see it the very first showing. Our Imax for some reason did not show this wonderful movie. But we did find a great theater to view the movie and we were the first in line wearing our cool glasses.

I felt like a kid again, okay every day I feel like a kid. So we went and I loved the 3D effect. It's a great way to get people back to the theaters.
So even though I am not expert on all the stories of Alice. I did enjoy the movie very much. In the movie Alice kept saying this is just a dream and she could wake up anytime.So my Alice is based on a dream. She is having a dream and she makes up all the charters in Wonderland based on parts of herself. Those mysteries I will leave for you to figure out for yourself. One piece that is missing is a charm I ordered and it must be lost in translation. Anyway it is a mouse charm that hangs from the end of the key. I am so sure I could of kept adding to my Alice but I ran out of time. I started her before the movie came out. Knowing I wanted to make a doll or two from the movie. I waited to finishes her after I saw it.

I love the places Alice goes and who she meets. I really loved the tea party set up.The mismatched tables, odds and end chairs, was so much like making do when your a kid. Its magical to travel to wonderland even though its just a dream.

Alice is very tall, so she was hard to photograph.She stands about 30 to 36 inches tall. She is made of clay with added props.She has a real cup on her head. It is a demitasse size cup.

Now for some summer fun!
Pick out some old glass pieces from the seller or thrift stores. Pick ones that look good together. Punch bowls, vases , platters and so on. I used green and clear. You can do what ever you want.
use a glue or sealant that is clear and strong. Build it how ever you want.
I like the patterned glass pieces. You can even fill them with sparkly stuff.

build as many as you want. Place them in groups or by themselves. They look super lit and with the sun shinning on them. Cheep yard art, funny thing is they look nothing like what they are when put together...please send me photos if you make one so I can post them here! It's a great family project or even by your self! HAPPY THRIFTING

my people wearing dog clothes love the hot summer sun as much as we do! I put their doggies bed out the back in my garden in a sunny spot. If I put it in the shade they do not lay on it. everyone is always telling us stay out of the sun its not good for you .....well I think its moderation. I must say I love the hot sun beating on me. I guess I need a lot more vitamin D then most. Yes there is five but they don't take up much room.......and they love each other!

they turned out so wonderful I am so impressed with them. The texture and colors and finishes blew me away! I will post more later and I am working on photo prints as well.

Had to share the crazy clouds from my weekend trip to Minneapolis Minnesota. I have seen clouds like these before but only twice. The Midwest has been getting hammered by storms for many weeks now. This week alone our area has had 10 inches of rain. I felt sorry for all the people who have carpet on the corners of their yards. Just about everyone has had some type of water damage. I have been blessed to live on the top of a hill without a basement. I didn't feel blessed early this week as a tornado warning was issued for the very road I live on. I had no where to go. I was home alone without a car. I let my 16 year old drive to church to play basket ball earlier that night. Turned out my husband came home and we left to his moms house five miles away. The twister never touched the ground. But the winds and rain have been crazy. While in the twin cities, each night we had tornado warnings as well. Once while dinning out and the next night while relaxing at the hotel in the hot tub. Its getting tiresome. But today is full sun cool breeze and no humidity! YEAH

This is Fred dog.... She, yes she is a Jack Russell Terrier and she loves to hunt. Today I let the dogs go out and run through the woods after a good 45 minutes I started to wonder where they could be. I called for them and they all returned to the house dirty. I put them in the back yard that is fenced in to dry. Seems they had been in the creek. Everyone returned but Fred dog. She was out maybe two to three hours. Then while cooking at my kitchen island I looked at the front door, which is full length glass I saw this dirty little face.
What in the world, Fred have you been doing???? Life with five of these dogs is never dull. She must of been hunting a Raccoon or something. Thank the Lord that this time she has no blood on her from her victims. Oh Fred dog your so very dirty ....Where is your spots???? Bath time!

Its been a crazy week of storms and they seem to produce the most amazing clouds. I was just relaxing and my husband called while out for his nightly three mile walk. He told me the sunset was amazing. I grabbed my camera and jumped in the truck and hurried down the road to get this shot. I can't see the sunsets from my house because a large hill hides it from the view from our home. So we often jump in the truck and drive around to see a peek or two between the trees. I wanted to be lazy and not go but I am so glad I did it was AMAZING!!!

This is our Oliver, this little guy thinks he is Gi-normous! Early this morning as the the dew was still on the grass. Oliver strolled down our drive. Its a very long drive. As he approached a large male deer. They stood about ten feet apart and just gleamed at each other. We watched from the house. Not a bark did he make. Sizing up this beast, Oliver decided hummmm maybe this guy is too large for me to take on. Oliver turned to take a few steps towards the house way up on top the hill. As Oliver walked a few steps so did the buck. Oliver stopped and looked into the large deers face and pondered. Then turned and took a few more steps towards the house. Yes, mister buck fallowed. This went on and on over about ten minutes. Now Oliver began to climb the hill. Well, so did the deer. Now getting really close to the house and the dear looked as if he had just made a new friend and he was coming for a visit. Almost to the house the deer decided to go another direction and Oliver fallowed him a few steps and decided to come to the house instead. It was quit entertaining but, the short friendship had closed. Maybe they will meet again tomorrow. I still can't believe Oliver never barked at the deer, not once.
